This is a fine art print of an oil painting Janet made from a photograph by the late Reuters photojournalist Danish Saddiqui, who was killed in July 2021 while embedded with an Afghan special forces unit that came under attack.

Janet was moved by a series of photos Danish shot of Hindu holy men at the Pitcher Festival in Prayagrai, India. There was one in particular that called to her, a portrait of a Naga Sadhu, and she reached out to Danish for permission to paint it. The painting represented a year of artistic leaps and joy for Janet, and she felt a great connection working on it.

Danish died because of his passionate belief that journalists must shine light on terrible events in places where no one is watching. His loss is a loss to all of us.

This piece is from Janet’s Dreamscapes series, which was inspired by the confinement of the COVID-19 pandemic, when her artists’ collective had to move their live figure-drawing sessions to Zoom. Initially, that felt very limiting, but eventually, it opened the door to wild imagination. Janet found herself transporting the models outside the confines of the Zoom screen. They ended up in some interesting places.

Fine Art Print: This print of Janet’s oil painting is on smooth 100% rag, 315gsm acid-free, museum-quality paper. It includes an archival-quality backing board and an archival, clear plastic sleeve. The print includes a white border and can be framed unmatted in a standard-sized frame. Frame not included.

Prints are digitally signed and ship directly from Janet’s printer, unless you select the hand-signed option. Hand signing usually adds at least a week to the shipping time.
